The green flag is flying so that must mean the track is clear and we are ready to race into our day! It’s time to rev up your engine and try your hand at a Green Machine smoothie - it will rocket you out of the gate and keep you on track all day long!
I found that when I started making green smoothies, it was best to follow a recipe. But once I got the hang of it, I would just use whatever leafy greens were in the fridge and whatever frozen - or fresh - fruit I had and go from there! You just need to figure out how to balance and find the right taste for you. After all, it’s YOUR engine you’re fueling, right?!
Here’s what I put in my blender this morning:
Six chopped Romaine leaves
Four chopped kale leaves
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup frozen berries
1/2 frozen banana (doesn’t have to be frozen, but makes it icy and creamy!)
1 inch fresh ginger, grated and chopped
1 t. ground flax seeds
*Sometimes I put in a teaspoon of psyllium husk powder for a little more fiber, but don’t use it every day as your body can become addicted to it. Seriously!
I just use a little vinegar for dressing with a little salt and pepper and BAM! I’m ready to go!
